About Sunshine Cafe
A Dream Decades in the Making
When Janet Barmore was just 15 years old, she landed her first job at a bowling alley in Bountiful, Utah. But it wasn’t the lanes that caught her attention—it was the little coffee shop tucked inside.
“I liked the atmosphere of the little mom-and-pop cafe diner,” Janet recalls.
There was something about the regulars, the comforting smells, and the warm conversations that stuck with her. That spark lit a dream Janet carried quietly for years: to open her own café one day.

From Dream to Reality
In May 2005, that dream became real when Janet opened Janet’s Sunshine Cafe. With just 37 seats and a bright, welcoming atmosphere, the café quickly became a local favorite—thanks to Janet’s homemade menu and personal touch.
The café is open only for breakfast and lunch, and there’s a reason the dining room is packed every day.

Made from Scratch, Just Like Mom Taught
Janet’s mother was a talented home cook, and she passed down not only her recipes, but her philosophy: always cook from scratch, and cook with love.
The menu reflects that heritage, filled with recipes Janet has been perfecting since childhood:
French Toast made from thick sourdough slices
Biscuits and Gravy with fluffy homemade biscuits
The crowd-favorite Spanish Omelet with mushrooms, peppers, ranchero sauce & sour cream
Her signature dish, the Granola Pancakes, are a must-try—made with homestyle cinnamon granola, topped with real butter and warm maple syrup.
Even the hash browns are made fresh daily from real potatoes.

Lunch Favorites & Friday Specials
When lunchtime hits, the burgers steal the show. Each one is made from 1/2-pound, hand-pressed patties, never frozen. The Garlic Burger is especially popular—mixed with fresh garlic and topped with cheddar or Swiss.
You’ll also find:
Daily Soups, like Hungarian Mushroom, Jalapeño Corn Chowder, and Clam Chowder
Homestyle Chili
Fresh Garden Classics for lighter appetites
And on Fridays, don’t miss Janet’s famous charcoal-grilled Tri-Tip special, served with soup or salad, fries or rice, and a drink.
A Cafe with Heart
From the very beginning, Janet built Sunshine Cafe around a simple idea: serve great food in a warm, welcoming space where people feel at home. And today, that little spark from the bowling alley coffee shop lives on in every plate served.
